  • Completed transfer of fish and some tadpoles from holding tank to pond.
  • Windstorm broke several Red Oaks and fallen dead trees
  • 1/4 inch of rain
  • Saw Rock Squirrel take old paper towel, presumably to its nest.
  • Heard Golden-cheeked Warbler
  • Saw painted bunting at seed ball for millet
  • Saw Spiny Lizard

January 27 2015

  • Saw 3 Possums and a Ringtail Cat at the seed bowl feeders on the porch at night.
  • Marked China Berry trees to remove at river bottom land
  • Consulted about muddy pond
  • Saw Osprey
  • Removed 8 large China Berry Trees and treated with stump remover
  • Rescued Golden-cheeked Warbler from seed feeder.

Canyon Wren at the meal worm bowl. The bowl was covered with a thin layer of dog food crumbs to keep the bees away. It is the only thing found that will discourage the bees, but not the birds. Little songbirds to not mess with bees. This photo was taken from inside the house through a bird-screened window.

November 04 2014

  • 2 inches of rain!
  • Saw many little brown birds  that must have blown in with the cold front
  • Refreshed Hummingbird feders, reduced the number of feeders to four.

Raccoon (and other night mammals) special treat: Dog food, peanuts, bird seed and grapes.

  • Refreshed Hummingbird feeders. It as been cold and not many Hummingbirds have been seen. Reduced the number of feeders to 6.
  • Saw Great Blue Heron 
  • Continued to remove KR Bluestem by hand around the house and along driveways

  • Refreshed Hummingbird feeders
  • Finalized installation of South Bluff water well
  • Cleaned out muck from water tank in upper pasture, letting it overflow onto the ground using a siphon hose.
  • Removed KR Bluestem rom around water tank in upper pasture
  • Planted Blue Grama Grass seeds
